Reincarnation Resemblance

Warning: Spoilers for Ice Fantasy ahead.

I was watching Ice Fantasy and I noticed that the new Ice King, Ka Suo, has a funny resemblance to his ancestor, She Mi. I know that this might be laziness on the casting part but my head canon is that She Mi reincarnated into his own descendant, Ka Suo.

This isn’t the first time that reincarnations were stated to look like their past lives on T.V., in Charmed; Prue, Piper, and Phoebe are actually reincarnations of their relatives. They were depicted as looking similar to their current lives because Phoebe’s soul recognizes their incarnations.

I will give some other examples of reincarnated characters that look exactly like their past lives in other media.

In Sailor Moon, Usagi looks exactly like Princess Serenity except for the hair color in the manga and the reboot.  In the manga, Princess Serenity has white hair while the reboot depicts her as a paler blonde. The other Sailor Soldiers don’t look any different in their past lives as well.

In Inuyasha, Kagome is the supposed “look-alike” reincarnation of Kikyo except they don’t look anything like each other. Some earlier animated scenes have some shots where they do look similar but honestly, they aren’t identical in the audience’s point of view at all.

According to my cousin, the reincarnation resemblance exists to conveniently draw the connection between the character’s past life and current life.
