Background
He was an orphan born in Wuhan who started life as a beggar since he could walk. He would fight with other beggars over a food scrap. Zhe Shen took him to Ran Mo’s clinic, Miaozhen, where they worked together to save his life. He fell in love with Ran and his feelings were reciprocated. He followed Zhe Shen and joined Nahai Police Agency. Thanks to his excellent agility and martial arts skills, he is often given tasks like intelligence gathering. However, due to Ran’s experience studying abroad, he decided to attend university in Japan to complete the education needed to become an officer.

Personal History: Her maternal grandmother, Qiuyue, possessed a self-hatred for having blue eyes since her aunt, Yue (Saya and Diva’s great-grandmother) seduced her mother’s former lover which she projected onto all fellow Blue-Eyed Lunar Bat Immortals and favored Red-Eyed Lunar Bat Immortals. Qiuyue favored her elder, red-eyed daughter, Beauty Rose, over her younger, blue-eyed daughter, Briar Rose.
Long ago, Beauty Rose and her husband had severely injured Briar Rose and locked her up in a tower, so they assumed she would eventually sleep for 30 years. Unfortunately, one of Beauty Rose’s imperial guards who lusted for Briar Rose came to her rescue and mated with her which resulted in Jolie and Belle’s conception.
Filled with hatred for her older sister, on the day of her nieces’ christening, Briar Rose cursed Beauty Rose’s daughters to prick their fingers on spinning wheels at the age of 16 and die! Since Briar Rose was gifted in the dark arts, her curse was to be feared. She and her mate soon escaped to France because they feared Qiuyue where she gave birth to her daughters. Her eldest daughter had red eyes, and her name was Jolie while the youngest daughter had blue eyes and her name was Belle.
15 years later, she and her mate returned to England and disguised herself as an old woman spinning on a spinning wheel with a spindle in a tower to ensure her curse. Later, she transformed into her true Chiropteran form to completely overpower the prince brothers who were trying to rescue her nieces. The fairies woke up Beauty Rose and her husband (Briar Rose’s imperial guard) to help the princes fight against Briar Rose and Beauty Rose’s defected imperial guard. Briar Rose’s mate died in the battle, but she survived and returned to France.
Briar Rose attempted to choke Jolie when she was a baby due to her hatred of red eyes caused by her mother’s preference but her husband told her not to kill her daughter so she cast a spell so she could love Jolie. In human villages, Jolie lived wearing a hood to cover her red eyes for fear of being accused of being a witch or a demon, but she didn’t mind for she preferred her twin be loved than having both being feared by the human villagers plus she wasn’t friendly and had high standards for people she wanted to interact with.
Many years later, Briar Rose remarried a wealthy and sensible merchant who had children of his own, three sons and one daughter. Briar Rose eventually left the family to take revenge on her mother, leaving the merchant to care for their family by himself. The man spared no cost for their education, and they had many masters for different subjects. His daughter and Jolie were very prideful. They did not make friends with daughters of other merchants and only kept company with people with good reputations. They went out every day to balls, concerts, parties, and plays. However, the merchant’s daughter liked to laugh at Jolie and Belle for spending a lot of time reading books.
Since it was known that the three daughters came from a wealthy family, many eminent merchants made offers of marriage. However, the merchant’s daughter and Jolie said they would never marry unless the proposal was made by a duke or an earl at the very least.
Suddenly, the merchant lost all his fortune as the house caught on fire and burnt to the ground, leaving nothing but ashes. He lost every ship he owned on the sea, his clerks in distant countries were not as faithful as he believed them to be, and his correspondents made him bankrupt. These combined factors made him fall into the most desolate poverty. All he had left was a small house in the country. The merchant tearfully told his children that they had to move there and make a living. Neither his daughter nor Jolie wanted to leave.
In the beginning, Jolie got up at 10 with her stepsister and did nothing except read or complain about the loss of her finery and not being able to attend any events. Her stepsister also complained about the loss of her acquaintances then remarked that Belle was a “poor, stupid creature to be happy in such a dismal situation.” Well, Jolie wouldn’t stand for such insults against her younger twin sister and began helping with a portion of the household.
A year later, the old man received news that one of his ships made a safe return. His sons and daughter thought that their poverty would finally end. Even Jolie couldn’t help but feel hopeful. The merchant’s daughter and Jolie felt that even if their father didn’t have enough property to return them to their former city, they could at least live in a cheaper city for both were tired of country life. When her stepfather asked his daughters for gifts, Jolie asked for some jewels.
After her stepfather stole a rose for Belle from a Beast who owned a palace, the Beast made a proposition that he would spare his life for one of his daughters. After her stepfather told of the cost to obtain the red rose, Jolie and her stepsister made fearful cries then complained “It is not fair that we should die in a frightening way for something that is not our fault. This is the result of Belle’s wish! Why didn’t she ask for a good stock of clothes and jewels like we did? It’s her fault and you’re asking us to pay the price. She created this issue, and she needs to fix it.”
Belle decided to sacrifice herself for her father’s life. The month passed by slowly and Belle planned to give her little property and jewels to Jolie. When it came time for Belle to leave for the Beast’s castle, Jolie cried for her.
Thanks to the gifts the Beast sent, her stepfather regained his wealth and after some time, the Beast permitted Belle to see her family again for two months, but it saddened most of her family aside from the merchant’s daughter to hear that her stay was temporary and the thought of her leaving saddened them to the point she often put off her delay.
After Belle found her happily ever after, Jolie was murdered by Belle’s imperial guard who had Belle’s blood since her mother, told Belle’s imperial guard that Jolie’s blood threatened Belle’s existence. Belle heard of a healer in Germany who was Gabriele aka Rapunzel (Saya and Diva’s mother) so she took Jolie’s crystallized remains with her. There was no way to save her but Báixuě had a magic mirror, and she consulted it for a solution. Following the solution of the “Spirit of the Magic Mirror”, Jolie’s soul took the place of the “Spirit of the Magic Mirror” and the “Spirit” disappeared.

Conceiving: Once a Queen has safely carried the next generation to term she has no biological need for the poisonous property that affects those of her sister’s blood or the ability to make Chevaliers.
Abilities and Limitations that Come with Being a Spirit Bound to the Magic Mirror
Her soul is bound to the mirror so if the mirror is destroyed, she will pass on as well. As the Spirit of the Mirror, she has infinite knowledge, magical powers, and must answer anyone’s question truthfully. Her mirror can shape-shift into a hand mirror and be used like a magical girl weapon. Unlike her predecessor, Jolie doesn’t need an incantation, she just appears with the call of her name/someone is addressing her. Jolie’s mirror contains a world that reflects her spirit. It also contains a library of infinite knowledge that Jolie has free access to. When she answers a question, the answer flows into her when she thinks about the query.
After being a spirit for so long, Jolie doesn’t care about consumption.

Personal History: Johann was the youngest son of a German king but Prince Friedrich and Báixuě who learned of Johann were able to bargain with the king to take Johann in when he was 13 years old so that he could serve her daughter as a knight but in reality, they wanted him to become Gabriela’s imperial guard by her blood when she was of age.
One day, Gabriela’s imperial guard, Prince Johann, had found where his mistress had been sneaking off to. He heard a singing voice that sounded like his mistress’s, but it had a soprano pitch. He saw an old woman cry out “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!” and a long golden braid come down which the woman used to cry.
Once the old woman left, he used his abilities to imitate the old woman’s voice and climbed up Rapunzel’s braid. He fell in love and came there often with his mistress.
One time, an extremely fair maiden arrived at the tower with her husband led by Prince Johann. It was Báixuě! She recognized the song that she sang to her children when she was pregnant. Rapunzel was finally able to unite with her family!
Unfortunately, Gothel arrived and ruined the reunion with her call. When the witch arrived at the window, Snow White ran her through with her sword and Gothel finally died.
There were rumors that a red eyed, silver-haired mermaid was swimming around in Iceland. Gabriela told Qiuyue her story and Qiuyue collaborated with Gabriela to get revenge against Gabriele (Rapunzel aka Saya & Diva’s mother). Báixuě, Friedrich, Gabriele, Johann, Báixuě’s imperial guards went to Iceland after hearing the rumors in hopes of reuniting with Gabriela. Johann was murdered by his own Queen.

Kimiko is the only daughter of Hidetake and Rinko Toratani. She was born and raised in Osaka City. She got into playing basketball after watching the national Japanese women’s basketball team on TV. She was recruited for Touou Academy’s girls’ basketball team, so her family moved to Tokyo and relocated their takoyaki restaurant there with them. Her dad gifted her a white Persian cat named Mimi on her 16th birthday. She was Touou Academy’s power forward until the autumn of her second year in high school, she challenged Minette Kurokawa, a Princess of Basketball and first year who had just transferred in and lost to her. She became the new captain and small forward after her team lost in the Winter Cup.

Kimiko was irritated that a first year had the gall to challenge the regulars for a spot on the team, so Kimiko decided to teach the taller girl a lesson by accepting her challenge. Unfortunately, Kimiko was the one who lost to Minette, and she was targeted by the Erinye, Megaera. Her negative emotions manifested into a Retribuo which targeted Minette which resulted in Minette awakening as Sailor Kerberos. After Kimiko’s Retribuo was defeated, Kimiko apologized to Minette, but Minette coldly replied, “I won’t apologize for taking your position by force.” Kimiko huffed but remarked “There are some people who are just too selfish. I can’t let myself give into my anger otherwise I wouldn’t have learned anything.” Minette later apologized for her rudeness for that time and Kimiko accepted her apology.

To my regret, I wasn’t able to have Sailor Senshi based on the Eastern Zodiac so I want to include 12 civilian characters in Senshi no Basuke that allude to those twelve animals. Thanks to TravelChinaGuide for helping me with her personality. Kimiko is based on the tiger which is why she has traits of the tiger person and since Touou Academy boys’ team recruits all over the nation, I decided that the girls’ team would do the same so I had Kimiko originate from Osaka. Takoyaki is so delicious so I had to have her family own a takoyaki restaurant. The fact that she has a white Persian cat named Mimi was inspired by Carol from Ouke no Monshou being gifted a white cat which she named “Mimi” but the cat was unfortunately forgotten about in the story. Her stats came from Touou Academy’s power forward on the boys’ team, Yoshinori Susa.
