I am pleased to announce that today, October 9th, I have completed both Jūban High’s boys’ and girls’ basketball teams – the regulars and coaches! Jūban High is a public school up against private schools and academies so as typical in most stories, the main team is the underdogs and both teams have managers! ( And both managers are dating each other. 😆🧡)
The girls’ team is the main team of Senshi no Basuke and there is only two senshi on their team who are both Jovian Moon Senshi. Saya Sakura aka Sailor Dia who is the power forward and later, Allette Shiratori aka Sailor Leda who is the point guard.
As for the boys’ team, there is three heroes. Takamori Kimoto aka Zeus Knight is the captain and center and he’s also the leader of the Apollo Asteroid Knights! Shiyu Aimoto aka Eros Knight is the vice-captain and shooting guard in addition to being an asteroid knight. Later, Aishiro Mikan aka Cytherean Knight becomes the new small forward and he is one of the Solar System Celestial Knights. Even though they seem like a powerful team, there’s a reason they didn’t make it far competition wise aside from not existing in Kuroko’s Basketball and not having a member of the Generation of Miracles. But even so, they will help support our girls’ team!

They are neighbors and childhood friends who went to the same Mini-Basketball program thanks to her parents putting her in the same program as Yusuke when they were 6. They were usually together and during that time, Yusuke said he was going to marry Konezu and she took it seriously. Her grandfather and father both called her “my mouse” but when she turned 14, she thought Yusuke calling her “my mouse” made the term of endearment sound annoying aside from him calling her “mouse girl” and “my mouse girl”. The following year, Yusuke took a part time job at her father’s ramen shop which allowed him to spend more time with her. During that time, he also told her “Konezu! His position was small forward. He was acquainted with the national male team and female team. He and Momoka had a son together named Yusuke when they were 22.
Since his parents both love basketball, they enrolled him in Mini-Basketball hoping that he would love it as well and thankfully, he did. Yusuke inherited his parents’ love of basketball and art. He likes to brag that he’s good with his hands because he inherited his parents’ mutual talents. She is the youngest of Yuki and Keiko Kenmochi’s three children. Her father, Yuki, is the second-generation owner of Kenmochi Ramen which he inherited from his father, Riki. When she was born, her elder sisters who were identical twins named Kiki and Koko were two years old. Her parents wanted to continue the naming of their daughters with k names like their mother and since she inherited the Kenmochi white hair and pink eyes, she was named “Konezu” since their infant reminded them of a mouse.

I also like watching bike races.” Konezu asked her if she could come watch a biking race with her some time and Usagi smiled “Of course.” Konezu asked Usagi if she would like to join the sports committee, but Usagi refused since she wasn’t into watching other sports like Konezu was. Konezu also likes running so she sometimes joins Usagi and Sayo when they run around the park if she’s not running with Yusuke.

Her frustration towards a younger girl who was shorter than her beating her in a round of basketball and taking over her position as a point guard caused her negative emotions to manifest into a Retribuo after interacting with the Erinye, Megaera, which started Allette’s awakening as Sailor Leda. Konezu was ashamed of her negative emotions, but Allette surprisingly reassured that it was understandable and that normally, she wouldn’t have challenged her for her position, but she had no choice given that her former captain requested that the Princesses of Basketball face off against each other in Japan to find out who was the strongest. Konezu then finally accepted that Allette was the new point guard since the younger girl was extremely intelligent and skilled after all. The more she watched Allette, the more she was able to admit Allette’s exceptional ability in basketball. She was horrified to find out Allette had never eaten ramen and had the team eat at her dad’s ramen shop to celebrate one of their victories. After finding out that cheese was a part of French cuisine, she even specially made Allette a cheese ramen.

Konezu is based on the rat / mouse which is why she has traits of the rat person, likes cheese, and why her father’s name is Yuki who had the spirit of the rat in Fruits Basket aside from me being inspired by Keiko in Yu Yu Hakusho whose surname is Yukimura to name her mother and describe her relationship with her childhood friend and lover, Yusuke. Keiko’s father owning a diner and Yusuke being good at cooking ramen inspired her father having a ramen shop. Remy the rat from Ratatouille inspired her grandfather being named “Riki” which starts with an r and is a four letter name. Serena Serenity from the manhwa, Serena, being called “princess” by her grandmother, father, and love interest, Eiser Leinz Grayan inspired Konezu being called “my mouse” by her grandfather, father, and boyfriend, Yusuke Suzuki and just like Serena, her love interest calling her by that particular term of endearment makes her annoyed. 2 is one of the lucky numbers for rats.

Kiminobu was asked to play basketball with friends in his neighborhood the summer with friends after finishing second grade and asked his parents to enroll her in Mini-Basketball when he entered third grade after making a promise to his friend, Kaya Kamiya, to do so.
He joined Jūban High school’s boys’ basketball team as a small forward. He got to play as a regular and his jersey number was #5. However, in the fall, he saw Aishiro Mikan’s ability then talked to the coach and Takamori Kimoto, the captain of his team to let him step down as small forward to let Aishiro Mikan be the new small forward.
However, Aishiro didn’t want his position as a regular to be given to him so easily like that, so he challenged Kiminobu to a one on one. Kiminobu gave it all he got against Aishiro without even flinching but still lost to Aishiro. His girlfriend, Kaya, deciding to switch to the manager position for her last year of high school to continue supporting the team influenced his own decision to do so.

They play basketball together and Kaya blushed when she noticed that his arms were getting more muscular because of playing basketball. In 8th grade, both ended up confessing their feelings to each other at the same time which made them laugh and they have been going out ever since then. Aishiro flirted with Usami despite Usami being older than him by two years, but he simply wasn’t interested in boys aside from feeling incredibly awkward at the younger boy flirting with him which led to Aishiro feigning disappointment at the rejection. The fellow regulars of Jūban’s boys’ basketball team likened Aishiro to a fox and Usami to a rabbit in demeanor. Since Usami is good at baking cakes and the captain of their team, Takemori, is good at preparing tea, Aishiro has joked that they should work together to cater for tea parties much to Usami’s amusement. Usami joked back that perhaps he’ll consider Aishiro’s idea. However, when it comes to Sayo’s affections, this is what Usami secretly resents him for and the resentment built up to the point that he got targeted by the Erinye, Megaera. The Retribuo that manifested from his envy targeted Aishiro and his apologized to Aishiro for being so jealous towards Sayo liking him and he is relieved when Aishiro admits that he thought he liked Sayo but has deeper feelings for someone else.

I suddenly had the idea to develop Usagi’s older twin, Usami, by making him Sayo’s endgame love interest and part of Jūban’s boys’ basketball team. I have been reading the manga, The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity and the male lead’s parents own a patisserie and the male lead and his father is good at baking cakes which influenced Usami’s specialty. They are childhood friends and neighbors. When their neighborhood friends asked them to play basketball, they both fell in love with the sport and made each other promise to ask their parents to enroll them in Mini-Basketball so they could get better at playing the sport. They were both motivated to play the sport to get stronger aside from having fun playing basketball. They play basketball together and Kaya blushed when she noticed that his arms were getting more muscular because of playing basketball. In 8th grade, both ended up confessing their feelings to each other at the same time which made them laugh and they have been going out ever since then. Kiminobu was a source of encouragement to Kaya after she suffered a shoulder injury and her becoming the manager of Jūban’s girls’ basketball team to continue supporting her team inspired him to become the manager for his team.

To my regret, I wasn’t able to have Sailor Senshi based on the Eastern Zodiac so I want to include 12 civilian characters in Senshi no Basuke that allude to those twelve animals. Kaya is based on theox so she has traits of the ox person and thanks to Hindustan Times which equated Capricorn with the ox. Thanks to Better Chinatown USA for helping me describe her hobbies and dislike. 14 is one of the lucky numbers for an ox person. Thanks to my coauthor cousin for helping me come up with her height and injury in her backstory. Her reason for getting into basketball was based off the coach of Shūtoku High’s girls’ team.

Personal History: Gabriele was born with golden hair while her red-eyed twin had silver hair and her name was Gabriela. The reason Báixuě’s daughters had such unnatural hair-colors was because during her pregnancy; she consumed silver garlic and golden rampion from a witch’s garden which magically altered the colors of their hair to match the plant they received nutrition from. Báixuě’s younger daughter was taken into custody by the witch who owned the garden, Gothel. She renamed Gabriele as Rapunzel but called her “Little Golden-Hair.”
One day, Gothel was busy gardening, Little Golden-Hair went into the forest, chasing butterflies. Meanwhile when Gabriela was taking a walk in the forest with her mother and aunt, but she ran the moment Báixuě and Méi gui hóng let go of her hand. She was a curious child and wanted to explore on her own. Eventually, the two sisters would come upon two different houses; both belonging to families of bear demons.
Little Golden-Hair came upon the house of the bear family while Gabriela came upon the house of the three bear brothers. Gabriela knocked on the door and she found that the door was open, so she walked in. She found that the first bowl of porridge was still hot, the second bowl of porridge had gone cold, and the third bowl of porridge was just right. Little Golden-Hair ate the third bowl. She found three chairs in the living room. The first chair was too big, the second chair was too wide, but the third chair was right for their size. Little Golden-Hair only leaned back in the little chair and it broke as well. The bear brothers returned to their homes to find that someone had eaten from their bowls and that the third bowl was empty, someone had sat in their chairs, and the third one was broken. They discovered that someone had laid in their bed and was still sleeping in the third one.
Little Golden-Hair woke up when Baby Bear pointed out that she was in his bed. She screamed “Help!” and ran out of the bed but the bear family blocked her from leaving the room. Fortunately, Gothel used her magic to transport her to Goldilocks’ location and used a spell to render the bear family unconscious. Gothel then kept Little Golden-Hair in a tower to make sure she would never leave her side again.
When she turned 16, Gabriela was exploring the forest, and she came upon Rapunzel’s tower. Gabriela wanted to see what was inside but was surprised to see that it had no door. Gabriela used her bat wings to fly to the top of the tower. Rapunzel was surprised at what she saw.
They looked completely identical except for the color of their eyes, hair, and skin. Gabriela and Rapunzel came to be best friends. Gabriela often returned to the tower to tell Rapunzel about the things she had seen on her travels.
During one of Gabriela’s visits with Rapunzel, she complained that she had explored all that Germany had to offer and that her parents would not allow her to go any further.
Rapunzel suggested that Gabriela ask Gothel to turn her into some other being so that she may continue her travels. Gabriela was hesitant about Rapunzel’s idea, saying that she would need the approval of her mother no matter what. However, Rapunzel convinced her saying that the transformation would only last until night and with that, Gabriela decided to make a one-day journey. However, Gabriela had been tricked into transforming into a mermaid due to Rapunzel’s machination and Gothel’s willingness to cooperate to help sow discord between the two sisters who had no idea they were related to one another despite her initial anger at Rapunzel having a secret friend.
The reason that Rapunzel wanted to turn Gabriela into a mermaid was because she was envious that a girl who was so much like her was free to travel places while she was confined to the tower. Once Gabriela found out that she no longer possessed legs, she would not be able to return to her old life anymore.
Knowing that Gabriela’s silver hair protected her from dark magic, Gothel asked Gabriela to gather the ingredients on her own. While Gabriela gathered the ingredients from Gothel’s garden, Gothel gathered a special ingredient that would make the effects of the mermaid potion permanent. Gothel cut a lock of Rapunzel’s hair to cover the special ingredient so Gabriela’s hair wouldn’t counteract its effects. Once all the ingredients were gathered, Rapunzel helped Gothel make the potion then gave it to Gabriela. Before Gabriela could drink it, however, Rapunzel told her to drink it near the sea. Gabriela thought the demand was odd but complied, nonetheless.
One day, Gabriela’s imperial guard, Prince Johann, had found where his mistress had been sneaking off to. He heard a singing voice that sounded like his mistress’s, but it had a soprano pitch. He saw an old woman cry out “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!” and a long golden braid come down which the woman used to cry.
Once the old woman left, he used his abilities to imitate the old woman’s voice and climbed up Rapunzel’s braid. He fell in love and came there often with his mistress.
One time, an extremely fair maiden arrived at the tower with her husband led by Prince Johann. It was Báixuě! She recognized the song that she sang to her children when she was pregnant. Rapunzel was finally able to unite with her family!
Unfortunately, Gothel arrived and ruined the reunion with her call. When the witch arrived at the window, Snow White ran her through with her sword and Gothel finally died.
There were rumors that a red eyed, silver-haired mermaid was swimming around in Iceland. Qiuyue (Báixuě’s blue-eyed cousin and daughter of Xià) heard the same rumors and went to investigate which led her to find Gabriela in the process. Gabriela told Qiuyue her story and Qiuyue collaborated with Gabriela to get revenge against Gabriele (Rapunzel aka Saya & Diva’s mother). Báixuě, Friedrich, Gabriele, Johann, Báixuě’s imperial guards went to Iceland after hearing the rumors in hopes of reuniting with Gabriela.
The group was separated, and Qiuyue worked together with Gabriela to kill Gabriele. Gabriela smashed Gabriele’s face with a rock and Gabriele’s dying wish was that her children live so her hair turned black when the magic of the golden lettuce went into her children.

Kenta is the only son of Ringo and Asa Takemichi. When Asa was younger, he was a boxer and Ringo helped him with training which was how they fell in love.
Ringo became a stay-at-home mom to take care of her son. Asa enrolled him in Mini-Basketball when he was in 3rd grade so he could stay fit, and this would free up time for Ringo. Kenta grew to love the sport.

The two of them met their end during the fall of the Silver Millennium but their reincarnations met as high school classmates. When they first met, Kenta got the feeling that Hanako was familiar but didn’t know why. Hanako helps Kenta by passing him her notes since he tends to space out in class. Hanako finds it easy to read Kenta and he is quite protective of her.

While roleplaying with Calisketches in the Senshi no Basuke setting, she named the npc whose frustrations got sensed by an Erinye and named him Kenta Takemichi. I portrayed him and I imagined he would be the black haired character in jersey #7 on Team Senshinkan in their first and last appearances. She allowed me to merge Kenta Takemichi and her oc, Drac. Drac was the name of the trans-Neptunian object so I figured he could have a Sailor Crystal and his blue hair, green eyes made me think he was mixed Mercurian, mixed Jovian and gave him the power of rainstorms which happens when water and lightning is combined aside from taking inspiration from Dracula which is what the trans-Neptunian object is named after which influenced his birthday with the novel’s publication name and how he can drain energy with “Drac Storm Drainage!” and “Watery Deluge!” aside from him liking vampire movies. Calisketches drew his guardian form which inspired him liking pirate movies when I fleshed him out. Brown Eyes’ Only One Year music video inspired the love story of his parents with the female trainer and the male boxer who appears for most of the music video and fittingly, the instrumental song became part of his soundtrack.

In 3rd grade, Momoka Sasaki asked her parents to enroll her in Mini-Basketball after playing it with friends at school. In high school, Momoka attended Shūtoku High school. Before she became a high school teacher and basketball coach at Shūtoku High and got married to Seiji Suzuki, she was a successful youth basketball player that she even made it as far as a regular on the national Japanese women’s basketball team. She was the point guard. She was acquainted with the national male team. She started needing glasses for nearsightedness when she attended the teaching credential program. She and Seiji had a son together named Yusuke when they were 22.
Since his parents both love basketball, they enrolled him in Mini-Basketball hoping that he would love it as well and thankfully, he did. Yusuke inherited his parents’ love of basketball and art. He likes to brag that he’s good with his hands because he inherited his parents’ mutual talents. Yusuke dons the modern regent hairstyle because his parents allow him to express himself which he is grateful for. He decided to go to the school his father works at to not affect their income plus he feels Jūban High fits him better and while he is used to his father teaching him art and being his coach, he cringes when his father calls out expressions in English. He proudly attributes his cooking talents to his loving mother.

He got to know Momoka during that outing and tried to see her games if he could. She could see him in the crowd when he did attend, and it lifted her spirits to see him there. After some time of getting to know each other, he asked her out with a bouquet of peach blossoms. They split up when Seiji decided to study art in America but surprisingly, they both attended the same teaching credential program and got back together. They are very affectionate with one another which makes their son embarrassed.

Inspirations
Her design and position as art teacher was somewhat inspired by Hiroko Maki from Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai. I was also inspired by Midori Saejima coming back to her old high school to work as the new art teacher to have her attend Shūtoku High as a student and work there as a teacher. Hiroko had a child with her husband, Masashi Sakamoto, so I decided she would have a son who was on Jūban’s boys’ basketball team. Her motto came from a saying my father once told me “Don’t worry, be happy.”
